Political and Religious Correctness Depends Upon Who Is Offended

Harlingen, Texas, October 26, 2007:  A soldier was being buried with honors.  The meaning of the thirteen folds in the American Flag was being explained.  Someone was offended by the text describing the meaning of the eleventh fold.  It celebrates Jewish war veterans and glorifies the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. It is followed by a description of the twelfth fold that for Christians represents eternity and glorifies God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

Now the National Cemetery Association has banned the entire flag-folding recital in all 125 national cemeteries.

In Portland, Oregon and in several other locales around the United States schools are dispensing birth control pills and protection to children as young as eleven, and not even informing parents.  This is done under the doctrine of personal privacy.

In Berkeley, California the radical anti-war group “Code Pink” has harassed and even closed down the Marine Corps Recruiting Office in that town.  They have the “right” to protest military recruiting.

Most people are well aware of government “political correctness” that prohibits us from opening the school day with prayer or a prayer for the safety of all athletes at public school sporting events.  Because of ACLU litigation we have lost the right to pray on public soil or have displays such as the Ten Commandments in public buildings.  These bans have been ordered from a government that opens each session of Congress and the Supreme Court with a prayer and even has replicas of the Commandments carved into the structure.

Stores are banning the use of the word “Christmas” in holiday displays.  The Salvation Army has been banned from ringing its charity bell in front of Target stores.  Television stations are forgetting the traditional Christmas greeting and wishing everyone “Happy Holidays”.  Nativity Scenes have disappeared from the town squares around America.

All of these things happen because those in leadership positions are worried about offending the minorities of the country.

Now we are being told that more than 50% of the people in this country advocate a secular society. If that is true…I am then a minority.  In my new status I want to complain and make a few demands.

I want God back in the home, the school, the town square, and the sports fields of America. I want schools forbidden to usurp the rights and the rule of parents over their minor children. I want Christmas and Hanukah and every other religious holiday celebrated in any and all forms that denote respect for the particular event.

I want “Code Pink” and all related radicals banned from demonstrating anywhere that would impede recruiting efforts. While I am at it, I am offended by the continuing lies, spin jobs and vile rhetoric spewing from the mouths of politicians.  I want all such acrimony permanently banned.

If the rule of thumb in the United States is to bend over backward not to offend any minority…. AND I am, as a man of religion, in the minority…I DEMAND MY RIGHTS!
